Why did Mexico want Texas to remain an independent nation?

    At first, they were debating on either Texas should be a slave state or not. Then Mexico got involved and wanted to stay the same. It ended out starting a quick battle between the two. This happens because other states wanted the same rules as they had when other states disagreed.
