Explanation:
"Sick man of Europe" is the title given to a country whose economy is in ruins or is experiencing poor rate of development. Particularly in the mid 1800s, the term "sick man of Europe" was given to the Ottoman empire, which consists of modern day Turkey.
This term was first came into existence during the 1860s when it was coined by the New York Times for the first time and was used by Britain and USA.
