    Nkrumah faced many challenges while driving the Gold Coast to independence from colonialism.

Under a transitional arrangement, Nkrumah was named Head of Government Business and confronted a colony 's challenge in the changeover to an independent nation. At the independence meeting, he emphasized that the freedom of Ghana was worthless unless it was directly related to the complete liberation of the continent.
