The Congress of Vienna was called after the defeat of Napolean and was held amongst the main European powers and called for an end to European imperialism within Europe and outlawed revolutions like the French Revolution. The new wave of national pride that swept the continent inspired kings to seek peace - I would say this is what prompted the European countries to seek peace.
