If the taiga biome is taken as a guide than similarities between North America and Russia would be:

    - Dense coniferous forests that stretch from the easternmost part of the country to the westernmost part of the country; the taiga is actually the biggest forest on area on the planet.

    - Very small density of population; these parts because of the bad climatic conditions are very sparsely populated.

    - Big deposits of multiple natural resources; below the taiga there's one of the biggest reserves of coal, gas, and oil.

Two big population centers in the taiga are Montreal, in North America, on Canadian soil, and Moscow, the capital and by far the biggest and most important city in Russia.
