How did Napoleon make writers portray him? How did he want to be seen by the public?

    In his portrays, the French emperor wanted to look powerful, heroic, strong and as a confident leader. Important details are the gestures and the way he dresses in the paintings. A good example is the work Napoleon Crossing the Alps by Jacques-Louis David. Or he tries to appear grandiose, as in the official painting of his coronation.
