All the options like salty soil, poor drainage, pest infections and extended droughts can be the reaons that causes crops to stop growing in the summer. It totally depends on the place where the crop is being grown. Salty soil never allows the crops to flourish and in most cases it kills the crops. Poor drainage system can lead to water building in the roots of the crops and they will slowly become rotten. Several type of pests attack the crops during the summer season. These pests remain dormant during the winter season. Sometimes extended droughts never allows the crops to be planted and so there is no question of crops growing.
