What was the British stance toward American Indian tribes in North America in the middle of the 18th century?

    The British wanted peace with the American Indian tribes. They ended their warfare with them with the Treaty of Paris. This resulted in a lot of land being given to the settlers but there was not much hatred for either side from either side. The British didn't want to go to war with the locals.
