    The answer is A. suffered. Among its best examples was the Great Depression which happened during the 1920's right after the end of the first world war.

    Immediately following World War I, the economy in the United States B. prospered.

    Although this may seem odd, it is the truth. War affected some countries negatively, but America wasn't one of them - after the War, the American economy got better and better.
