What were the differing views of the presidency held by the Framers?

    There were two dominant views of the Presidency during the time of the framers.

    One was opposed to the Presidency as they believed that it was too close to the Monarchy that the new country had just replaced.

    The other believed that the new country needed a strong Executive for the country to rally behind.

    George Washington was chosen and the US has had an Executive of varying strengths ever since.
