John Locke had major influence in defining the shape of the US constitution and his main idea was if the ruler is against the rights and if he fails to protect the rights the citizens have the rights to over throw the government

    Explanation:

He was a major influence and he gave his views on the second treatise of the government and he identified that in the basis of the legitimate government. The main duty of the government is to protect the natural rights of the people and to follow the life, liberty and property rule.

When the rights are failed to be protected by the government, the people have the right to overthrow the government. Thomas Jefferson was the person who influenced this idea more deeply after the Declaration of Independence.
