In her speech in 1995, Benazir Bhutto addressed women's social rights and the need of continuing empowering this sector of the population worldwide. She invites her audience not only to consider the great advances that had been done to find equality, but to sustain this progress by not being neutral, but fighting against social prejudice. She states this would be the only way to fight poverty and find economic Independence.

In addition, Benazir acknowledges some advancements from the time she was growing up till the moment of the speech. While women were not allowed to study, own a house, travel or even leave their houses, she reflects on having now a better situation. However, she stresses the importance of not allowing oppression to prevail as injustice continues presently as a symbol against women progress.
