After the events that took place after 9/11, the U. S invaded Afghanistan. But I don't remember hearing about an "alliance" but they did have some what a alliance with United Kingdom and the Taliban. See if you look back at history they blamed Osama Bin Laden for the attack on 9/11 so there is no way they had an alliance especially since Osama was wanted in the FBI. In fact the president back then (George W Bush) demanded the Taliban to hand over Osama but the Taliban wanted proof that Osama's involvement in 9/11

There was never an alliance with Osama Bin Laden.

He was among the volunteers trained by the US spy agencies to be an American spy.

    Explanation:

Osama Bin Laden was among the selected recruits. The CIA and U. S. Armed Forces intelligence unit and Osama bin Laden began to organize and network to raise money and to recruit fighters.

The CIA encouraged Islamic group volunteers from all over the world to come to Afghanistan where they were trained. Most of the intelligence agencies involved avoided considering the consequences of their act.

Years later, Bin Laden, Prince Turki and General Gul became good friends and allies, majorly because of their common cause.
