The reason why might a president want to withhold information related to internal White House communications is because the president wants to live up to expectation of the voters. The White House Director of Communications, otherwise called Assistant to the President for Communications, is a piece of the ranking staff of the President of the United States, and is in charge of creating and advancing the motivation of the President and driving its media battle.
