What were the geographic advantages of Constantinople

    Constantinople had so many natural advantages that made it difficult to conquer. It was situated on an elevated rocky pininsula and sorrounded by the sea on three sides. To the north: The golden horn (estuary), to the east: The Bosporus. The last one connected the Black Sea with the Sea of Marmara. To the south: The Sea of Marmara itself.
