The development of the Harlem renaissance led to the recognition of the significant influence of Black culture on American culture. For the first time, America saw not the humiliating stereotype of a black man, planted for decades in American culture, but the so-called "new black man" - an educated, highly cultured member of a truly decent society, and the Harlem renaissance was the first step to such recognition.
