Portugal began to trade with India. Vasco Da Gama arrived to India on May 20,1948 with 170 men. the place he arrived was Calicut (now Kozhikode). He was received with hospitality. though, he sent numerous gifts to then King of Portugal, who remain unimpressed because the gifts were not in gold and silver.
