    Ignorance

    Explanation:

In order to abolish misery and suffering, countries, governments, and society in general, MUST end the ignorance that plagues us. The key lies in education. Obviously, education in the traditional sense, in that we need tools and skills that must be learned at home and then the reinforcement of these at school. To this, we start adding all the knowledge and skills that school provides us to become prepared people of the world. But also, at home and at school, we need to get rid of emotional ignorance, in that we have to start working on emotional intelligence to become prepared citizens of the world. It has to be a constant and a given, it's a type of intelligence that also requires practice, it must become a habit, and it must be continuously worked and improved. The reason for this is that a lot of misery and suffering come from selfishness, lack of values (like honesty and respect), injustices, and, yes, lack of knowing any better. The more and better, wholesome and integral education is provided to children AND adults, the less ignorance we will suffer from, and the less misery and suffering there will be.
