Since women mostly worked in the clothing industry, manufacturing developments led to things such as sewing machines which certainly made it easier for them to mass produce articles of clothing. Trade enabled them to acquire new materials from far reaches of the world. This also applied to food since they were commonly found working as cooks in people's houses or in mansions, depending on the time period.
