The immigration from 1901 to 1910 had a greater effect on the United States than the immigration from 2001-2010. Why might this statement be true? What caused the large drop from 1930-1950? Approximately how many immigrants came to the United States between 1890 and 1920?

    The immigration from 1901 to 1910 had a greater effect on the USA than the immigration from 2001 to 2010.

    This statement is true because USA's foreign born population is 50 millions or 14 % of the total US population of 312 millions according to 2011 American Community Survey.

    By 1910, the immigrant share of population peaked to 15 %. The foreign share of population fell to 5% in 1970 and by 2010 it was around 6 %.
