I know C is an incorrect answer.

A. became wealthier as their income increased.

B. continued to have low incomes and could not escape poverty.

C. earned a higher income and continued working in factories.

D. continued to have low incomes but were able to live more comfortably.

    The correct answer is B) Continued to have low incomes and could not escape poverty.

    The Gilded Age was the era in American history during the late 1800's and early 1900's in which the economy was becoming more industrialized. This resulted in increased amount of factory jobs. However, these increased economic opportunities usually lead to wealth for business owners and not necessarily the laborers. Their wages mainly remained stagnant during this time.
