    Answer: The Stamp Act was a tax put on the colonists by Parliament. Whenever purchasing items such as newspapers or documents, colonists had to pay a tax. However, the colonists thought that Britain had no right to tax them, since there were no representatives of the American colonies in the British Parliament. Therefore, the colonies decided they were being treated unfairly and were angry at Britain. The anger was mainly the reason why the colonists wanted to rebel and go to war with Britain.
