    Initially. the Sumerians and Babylonians had the necessity to describe large numbers when they studied, calculated and charted the course of the night sky and created their lunar calendar.

    They assigned symbols to objects trying to describe larger numbers in a non-complicated way. At the beginning of the 4th millennium BCE, they used clay cones to represent numbers, that later was replaced by cuneiform symbols that expressed numbers.

    Mathematics was base 60 because it has many divisors that are still used today n the 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour and 360 degrees in a circle

    Summer started with multiplication and division tables, square roots and cube, fractions, algebra, methods for solving equations, and the calculus.
