    Tiamat is a monster created in chaos. He is the primordial ocean goddess who is married to Absu, who symbolizes the freshwater deity. Other deities are born of their marriage. Her husband, Apsu, learns that his descendants want to take the throne. Apsu begins the war against the new gods but is killed. Tiamat, in his quest for revenge, takes the form of a sea dragon and sets off in retaliation. However, she, too, is killed by thunder god Marduk.
