The monkey king assumes that he has been invited to a dinner party alongside all the heavy-hitters in Chinese mythology i. e., gods, goddesses, demons, spirits. because he thinks he is some seriously hot stuff, and guest material for the dinner party he is crashing. He tells that to the guard, but the guard is not convinced since Monkey King does not have an actual invitation. This occurs after the Monkey King who is down below his mountaintop, and upon hearing the music and the scent of wine drifting down from the party up above, he speeds off to the heavens to attend the party assuming he has been invited.
