The Mexican Expedition was the military operation that the US conducted to go after the paramilitary Mexican Forces of Pancho Villa in 1916. The Expedition aimed to capture Pancho Villa but was unable to do that.

The head of the Mexican government was against the US operation and resisted the passage of the US Army, the war was avoided by diplomatically and the US remained in the Mexican territory until 1917. But even though the US did not catch Pancho Villa, the US encouraged the Mexican government to pursue him starting a revolt.
