Women served in the armed force.
Explanation:
Throughout the Second World War, women played an important role in the United States. Though they did not engage in the warfare they actively served in the armed forces. Women actively joined factories that manufactured tanks, ships, munitions etc. for the war effort. Many women also served as nurses. For their job, they even served on ship hospitals, evacuation hospitals, medical transport planes etc.

Women in the United States during WWII took up the jobs the men left behind. They also did Red Cross, rationing and other war effort things.
