How did environmental influence Native American cultures in North America?

Environment played a major role in terms of the development of Native American cultures in North America--one of the reasons being that those tribes who lived closer to water sources relied more heavily on fishing for food than those who lived more inland. The lack of certain crops and domesticatable animals also made many Natives dependent on corn for sustenance.
