How did destroying the city of thebes prove alexander to be more than a mere boy?

    Alexander the Great was viewed as a "mere boy" by the Greeks, and they believed that they could free themselves from Macedonia rule. Because of this, Alexander destroyed the entire city of Thebes as a warning to others. He then conquered the long time enemy of Greece, Persia.
