    Indeed, Chinese immigration was increasingly seen as detrimental to the rights and salaries of white American workers since they were willing to work twice as much for half or less of the salary. The first law that passed against them was the Chinese Exclusion Act which forbade all Chinese immigration to the United States in 1882. In 1892 the Geary Act expanded such provisions and in 1902 these became a permanent law.
