The US began to purse a very imperialistic foreign policy in the late 1800s, early 1900s (after the 2nd Industrial Revolution) for a variety of reasons. Once of those reasons was purely economic. The US wanted to obtain foreign territories in order to have access to raw materials and new markets.

Based on your knowledge and the sources provided, describe ONE other reason why people in the US pushed for the government to pursue a more imperialistic foreign policy in late 1800s, early 1900s.

    The economic factors were desires to find new markets for trade. By extending colonial power throughout the world, the US would have new trading partners and markets.
