The first empires in southwest Asia, such as the Assyrians, the Persians, the Babylonians, and the Macedonian Empire, had a great influence on the technological, cultural and social development of all the peoples of the Mediterranean and the Middle East. The Assyrians, fierce conquerors built cities like Ninive and Babylon, extended the written language (cuñeiforme) since the Mesopotamians were the inventors of the wheel and the writing. The Persians, commanded by great kings like Cyrus the Great, or Darius I, extended to Greece and put at risk the cradle of Western philosophy, bringing with them mathematics and a refined culture; while Alexander the Great, in the Macedonian empire, extended from Egypt to India, globalizing all Europe and Asia in its time of glory.
