    The correct answer is D.

The Trinity Site was located in the Jornada de Muerto desert, about 35 miles from Socorro, New Mexico.

The name Trinity was given by J. Robert Oppenheimer to a remote patch of the Jornada de Muerto desert. This was done as a tribute to the poet John Donne as he used the name in one of his poems.

Trinity was the code name of the first detonation of nuclear weapons conducted by the United States Army.

The experiment was carried on July 16, 1945, as part of the Manhattan Project (a project to research and develop the first nuclear weapon).

The 'Gadget' nuclear device was detonated from a steel tower and the mushroom cloud rose almost eight miles high.
