It was not a smooth and reasonable goverment. On April 17, 1702, under the lead of Queen Anne, the two areas of the restrictive settlement were joined together and New Jersey turned into a regal state. Edward Hyde, Lord Cornbury, turned into the primary legislative head of the state as an imperial settlement.
