The reign of Claudius witnessed the conquest of Britain which brought the rich mineral resources of Britain directly under the control of the Romans. Silver was one the most important riches and as the supply increased so did its use in the Roman economy. Roman economy was heavily dependent on silver as silver coins used to make high-value coins. But as the supply of silver rises, its value decreased.
