The main reason why the south was less industrialized than the north

    Historically, slavery was in the south because laborers were needed for the plantation crops such as tobacco and cotton. These were crops that were sold to the north and different countries. There was too much heat in the south so citizens wouldn't look for work in the south. The slaves were used and raised in a separate house behind the main house.
