The Roman Empire began to show social decline and this coincided, and some would argue contributed, to the fall of the western Roman Empire. Similarly modern western culture is beginning to show social decline and this has coincided with a somewhat decline in the power of modern western culture. Some people see parallels between this and the fall of the Roman Empire.
