    The forced migration of the Navajo began in 1863. The crops and livestock of the Navajo were destroyed. The Navajo were forced to march in winter to a land void of living resources. The relocation of Nez Perces tribe began in 1877. The tribe was forces out of a valley and a 1600 mile running battle occurred. Members of the tribe totaled 750, and they out fought 2,000 well-equipped U. S. soldiers. The tribe was stopped just short of the Canadian border.
