    Marshaal served as an associate justice of the US supreme court from 1967 to 1991, as the only african american. he was an avid equal protection crusader as a chief counsel for NAACP. During the Brown vs education board, he won the case which paved the way for an end to racial seggregation, arguing against the separate but equal precedents established by the Plessy v. Ferguson ruling.
