The Spanish created a frontier of inclusion in the New World. This is a frontier society characterized by a great deal of of mixing between male colonists and and native or African women. Mixed-ancestry groups began to pop up which the Spanish called mulattoes and mestizos. This type of empire extended into North America because the Spanish wanted to include the native peoples and Africans in their empire. They wanted to use these people for slaves to exploit North America of its riches and goods.

Huge empire, 250,000 immigrants settled in the Americas. Had slaves. Women made up only 10%. Made up one of the largest empires in history. Highly centralized and bureaucratic system. Pushed into North America for more resources and more space.
