How do primary and general elections differ

General elections are held yearly, well primary elections occur every 4 years.

People must be affiliated with certain political parties to vote in general elections, but not in primary actions.

Primary elections take place more often than general elections do.

Voters choose candidates in primary elections and then select one for office and general elections.
