How did the social structure of Song and Tang dynasties reflect Confucian traditions?

The Tang dynasty incorporated officials trained in Confucian traditions into their civil service system, and these officials brought Confucianism to the system via their training. The Song and Tang dynasties also used a class structure where those who made money by using others, such as merchants, were at the bottom of the social structure.
