    Explanation:

    Everyday personal transportation in America is controlled by the Automobiles. As of 2004 data, there were 800 automobiles per 1000 American, compared inhabitants of Japan where personal Automobiles are very less.

    While transport of goods by rail is large, comparatively few people use rail to travel, within or between the cities. while on the other hand in Japan most of their transport system is dependent on railways. Japan's travel system mainly depends on the rail.

    So, we can say the United States transportation is much more reliant on roads than rails.
