Belgian Congo currently known as the Democratic Republic of Congo became independent in 1960. Rwanda and Burundi were also under Belgian control which were decolonized in 1962.

Netherland had colonized Indonesia known as Dutch East Indies at the time, the Japanese seized Dutch East Indies in 1942. Indonesia declared independence from Dutch control in 1945.
