The environment was very important because their cultures were rooted in their environments. They were far away from each other and couldn't really communicate much due to terrain, but they built their culture around the environment around them. In cold areas like where the Inuits are there was a lot of snow and ice and hunting seals and things like that. In the central parts it was all about animals and their spirits and similar things. In the south there were volcano gods and similar things, all based around their environment.
