    Rachel Carson's book, "Silent Spring", shocked the world in 1962 because it created a consciousness on the use of DDT and the terrible consequences it had on human diseases. Nobody before Carson's conclusions had thought about this serious issue.

    Rachel Carson's book "Silent Spring" of 1962. Impressed the community with her studies on DDT, and its repercussions as a dangerous chemical that had killed animals and probably was the cause of cancer to humans. Before Carson's conclusions, people thought that DDT was a very useful chemical. But her book proved the opposite. That really shocked the world.

    The book was the originator of environmental and ecological movements that targeted the use of chemicals and the support for nature and life. "Silent Spring" impacted the world after knowing the dangers of toxic chemical pollutants in the air.

    Carson informed the world of the devastating consequences of unregulated use of pesticides. She gave examples of the use of DDT in agriculture and the damage done.
