The Great Awakening refers to a number of religious revival American Christian history. It preached that people must feel God's love for them and that church attendance wasn't enough.

The Great Awakening (1730s-1740s) encouraged a Humanistic advance towards science and logic. It limited the power of the church through encouraging the idea of questioning everything. The citizens began to also criticize the British church controlling the thirteen colonies.
