The Parliament passed laws in the 1800s that gave voting rights to most adult males, starting with the Reform Act of 1832.

This act gave the power of voting to any man who owned a household worth £10 and to those people who are low in the economic and social state.

    To most adult males

The 1832 Reform Act consisted of a series of measures aimed at changing the electoral system of England and Wales (More specifically, when electing the members of the Commons House of Parliament) which at the time was deemed as unjust, unbalanced, not representative and not secret.

Although the Act did not eliminate all of these abuses, it became the first of many Parliament reforms that eventually would completely change the electoral system. This Act granted almost 300,000 adult males the right to vote, while women and the vast majority of males from working classes were still excluded, and it did not establish a secret ballot, therefore the voters could still be influenced when voting, or affected negatively.
