    Roles of settlement houses-

These houses were established in poor urban areas, where the volunteer settlement workers could live and share knowledge and culture with others and reduce the poverty of their low-income neighbors. These houses offered food, shelter, and basic and higher education to people and were funded by wealthy donors through charity.

    Roles of fraternal organizations-
