People who were against Prohibition wanted alcohol to still be legal in the United States. These individuals felt that citizens should have the right to choose whether or not they want to drink. Getting the government involved in an affair like this would limit their individual freedoms in American society. Despite their best efforts, Prohibition takes place with the 18th amendment. This amendment is widly unsuccessful, as the amount of drinking in the US increases and violence ensues.
